Royal Tunbridge Wells High Street

Placemaking

Kaner Olette were invited to replace existing lockdown parklets to a semi-permanent scheme with improved longevity, appropriate materials and increase the number of locations of parklets on the High Street.

Since 2019, the High Street has been a one-way road allowing for cafes and restaurants to set out seating within several parklet locations.

In-keeping with the historic environment, Kaner Olette have created an innovative modular parklet scheme that creates a stone tiled flooring flush with the pavement and metal planters to create a high-end semi-permanent area for seating for hospitality retailers.

Using an existing roof terrace system by RAAFT and in close collaboration with their team, this unique project has been constructed in 2025. Other sites are being investigated in the town for similar treatment.
